      Fabio Fognini è tornato al lavoro e si sta allenando sui campi dello Sporting Club Eur. L’ex numero 9 del mondo, reduce da uno stiramento al pettorale nella recente cavalcata al terzo turno del Roland Garros, è arrivato nella capitale insieme al coach ed ex capitano di Coppa Davis, Corrado Barazzutti. Sulla terra rossa del circolo romano, Fognini si è allenato con Niccolò Ciavarella e Daniele Minighini, prospetti classe 2004 che giocano da sempre allo Sporting Club Eur e sono da anni nel radar della federazione.
      Le sessioni dell’ex top ten hanno intrattenuto soci e ragazzi che hanno potuto ammirare da vicino le gesta del taggiasco, ben determinato a riprovarci. Reduce dai terzi turni agli Internazionali BNL d’Italia e al Roland Garros, il trentaseienne di Arma di Taggia ha dato prova di essere ancora competitivo e soprattutto motivato. L’ultimo infortunio ha rallentato il processo, ma Fabio sta provando a rimettersi in moto e sta muovendo i primi passi a Roma. La speranza è naturalmente quella di poterlo rivedere presto in campo, nel frattempo lo Sporting Club Eur ha avuto l’onore di ospitare lui ed il suo team. LEGGI TUTTO

      Inizia con il piede giusto l’avventura delle italiane nella 13ª edizione dell’ATV Tennis Open. Lisa Pigato, Deborah Chiesa, Diletta Cherubini e Dalila Spiteri hanno conquistato il biglietto per il secondo turno della manifestazione internazionale di Tennis Femminile ITF con $60.000 di montepremi. Sui campi in terra rossa del Circolo Antico Tiro a Volo le prestazioni delle azzurre hanno coinvolto il pubblico che dalla mattina ha assistito ai match. Dopo aver superato le qualificazioni Deborah Chiesa si è aggiudicata il derby contro Anastasia Abbagnato con il punteggio di 6-1 6-2. Nel primo match del Centrale grande prova di nervi di Lisa Pigato, autrice di una grande rimonta dopo un avvio lento. La wild card italiana ha chiuso con lo score di 0-6 6-4 6-3 contro la slovena Pia Lovric. Impeccabile dall’inizio alla fine invece la prestazione della prima testa di serie Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, che con il punteggio di 6-3 6-1 ha regolato Gabriela Ce.
      Il ritorno di Chiesa: “Ci credo e ci provo” – Ex numero 143 del mondo con un passato in nazionale, Deborah Chiesa continua a lottare per tornare in alto. Dopo anni alle prese con gli infortuni, la tennista di Trento sta lavorando sotto la guida di coach Marco Mosciatti. Dopo aver superato Eleonora Alvisi in una grande battaglia nel turno decisivo delle qualificazioni, Chiesa ha sconfitto Anastasia Abbagnato per 6-1 6-2 nel primo turno dell’ATV Tennis Open: “Sono contenta di aver vinto questo match. Nell’ultimo mese non sono riuscita a giocare perché ho avuto un fastidio al piede e dato che in passato ho avuto questo infortunio adesso ogni volta lo gestisco con cautela. Riparto un’altra volta da questo torneo e due vittorie in condizioni climatiche non facili sono una soddisfazione”. Questa settimana numero 590 del mondo, Chiesa è attardata in classifica ma ha dimostrato di avere un altro passo quando sta bene: “Ho 27 anni, ma tennisticamente sento di averne 24. Sono tanti anni che non gioco una stagione intera ed il mio obiettivo è riuscire a farlo per tirare le somme. Ho un buon livello di tennis e mi piacerebbe tornare almeno dove sono stata in passato”. Nel secondo turno Chiesa sarà attesa dal terzo derby consecutivo, quello contro Matilde Paoletti che ha esordito con successo nella giornata di martedì. La prima testa di serie Jessica Bouzas Maneiro se la vedrà contro Angelica Moratelli, altra vincente uscita dalla prima giornata di main draw. Nella giornata di mercoledì invece è stata autotrice di una grande battaglia Diletta Cherubine, che per 6-2 0-6 6-2 ha regolato Julia Terziyska. Avanza in due set invece Dalila Spiteri che con un netto 6-4 6-1 ha eliminato la francese Marine Partaud.
